Iceland Winter Workshop, February 20-26, 2012

Sold out.

The main focus of this seven day winter trip will be the Aurora borealis (Northern lights) and as the sun has started rising at around 9 a.m. and sets at 6.30 p.m. there’s also plenty of soft golden light to photograph the winter landscape, hopefully snow covered. The itinerary is kept open and flexible to ensure that we’ll be in places of clear skies, to be able to photograph the Northern lights. The preliminary itinerary is to stay on the south and southeast coast but if needed we may spend time on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula or even go north to the Lake Myvatn region. It’s all up to the weather and conditions when we start.

The group is limited to 6 participants and there will be tuition and discussions on how to photograph the Northern lights. Hopefully there will be a few opportunities to do so during the week, but as with everything in Iceland, nothing is guaranteed. Even without the lights Iceland’s nature is truly magical during this time of year.

We’ll be staying in comfortable hotels in single rooms and will be using 2-3 hotels as bases during the trip.

The cost for the tour is $2500 US. What is included is transportation in a 4×4 truck, hotels (single room), all meals and tuition. What’s not included is your flight to Iceland and hotel in Reykjavik, the day before the trip begins.
