For the first time in 2009 I will be offering a landscape photography tour that will focus on the northern part of Iceland.
This tour is for dedicated landscape photographers who are willing to work hard for their images. Although it is not physically demanding (no major hikes involved) the long hours and reversed sleep schedule can be taxing. This is not a photography workshop, as there will be no teaching involved, but an opportunity to travel with one of Iceland's top nature photographer who knows the country intimately and can take you to the best photography locations that are off the beaten track, and be there at the right time – when the light is at its best. Iceland borders the Arctic Circle and the north receives more than 20 hours of daylight at this time of the year. Shooting in Iceland in summer can therefore be hard work and challenging, but great fun and very rewarding. It is an adventure unlike any other!
We will start our journey in Reykjavik and drive East towards Jokulsarlon lagoon. We'll then travel to Egilsstadir, onwards to Modrudalur and from there to Kelduhverfi in the Northeast, where the Jokulsargljufur National Park is located. We'll then be based at Lake Myvatn for three nights. From Myvatn we'll do excursions to the Jokulsargljufur National Park, into Askja and Herdubreidaarlindir, and other closer locations, such as Leirhnjukur and Namafjall. After our stay at Myvatn we'll travel the Sprengisandur highland route and spend the last night at the Highland Hotel in Hrauneyjar.
This tour will last for 9 days (8 nights). We will be staying in good hotels (en suite). There will be some moderate hiking on uneven ground.
The cost is $4300 US. This is an all-inclusive price, but excluding your airfare to Iceland. What is included is transportation, food, drinks (excluding alcoholic beverages) and accommodation, which is based on two persons sharing a room. Single supplement is possible for an additional $400. Payments are made in two installments. A deposit of $1,000 must be made within 2 weeks of registration. The balance of $3,300 is due by March 15th, 2009.
