From the introduction:
The establishment of national parks
and protected areas is a fundamental
premise of nature conservation, whereby
biological diversity enjoys statutory
protection. We have been given nature
and natural resources on loan and it
is our duty to preserve that heritage
for our children. Access to untouched
nature is a fundamental human right.
Nature does not just possess a grand
visual feast; it also has a mystique,
the life force of existence. Without
coexistence with the basic power of
creation, people lose connection with
themselves. The complexities of modern
living take over a persons consciousness
and anxieties and fear, lack of purpose
and loneliness encroach. In nature,
on the other hand, tension, stress,
and the speed of urban society recede.
In the silence all senses are sharpened,
waves of restlessness diminish and the
conscious awareness becomes clear. Such
a state of mind is invaluable as it
creates an opportunity to sense the
delicate life force that is everywhere
around us. Although nature can certainly
exist without human beings, humans cannot
live without nature. This is why we
must protect and respect it.
